Budgets & Categories
Give each spending category a budget per week, per month or per year. The views share it out for you.

Accounts
Just a name and a starting balance, never account numbers. Transfers between accounts aren't spending or income.
Reconcile
Type the balance on your statement, then tick the entries the statement shows.
Roll-over Envelopes
Turn on "Roll over" for a monthly or yearly budget: what you don't spend carries into the next month (or year), and overspending carries too, as a minus.
No envelopes yet. Edit a category with a monthly or yearly budget and tick "Roll over".

How It Works
Budgets and what's left
Give each spending category a budget per week, per month or per year. Log what you spend with + Spend and what comes in with + Income.
Left to spend = your budgets for the period minus everything you spent in it (spending in categories with no budget counts too, and is listed on its own line).
Safe to spend per day = what's left ÷ the days left in this week, month or year, counting today. It's rounded down, so it never promises more than you have.
How budgets are shared out
A budget shown in its own period is exact: a weekly budget in the Week view, a monthly one in the Month view, a yearly one in the Year view. A monthly budget in the Year view is exactly × 12.
Anywhere else it's shared out by the day, and marked ≈: weekly × days ÷ 7; monthly × (days in each month ÷ days in that month); yearly × days ÷ days in that year. Example: $150 a week in a 31-day month = $150 × 31 ÷ 7 ≈ $664.29.
Each category is worked out exactly and rounded to the cent once (halves round up), so totals never drift.
Repeats, printing, limits
Repeat: tick "Repeat" when you add an entry (every week, 2 weeks, month or year; the 31st becomes the last day in shorter months). Repeats wait under "Upcoming" until you confirm them. Nothing is ever added on its own.
Print: a monthly budget sheet, filled in or blank to fill in by hand.
Limits: 5,000 entries and 40 categories. When storage gets full, archive an old year (Settings): it downloads that year as a file, then removes its entries from this browser. Restoring an archive file replaces everything that's here, so download a backup first.
Currency: one currency for the whole budget. Changing it only changes how amounts look; it never converts them.
Your privacy and your money
This is a planning helper. It never holds or moves money, never connects to a bank, and isn't financial advice.
Your budget stays in this browser on this device. Anyone using this browser can open it. Clearing your browser's site data deletes it, so download backups now and then.
Backup files are plain, readable text: keep them somewhere private. There's no place for account, card or routing numbers, logins or passwords, and if a payee or note has 8 or more digits in a row, the tool offers to hide all but the last 4.
Not included
Savings goal schedules and debt payoff plans (each is its own Zagzook tool; here "Savings" and "Debt payments" are ordinary budget categories), bank connections or automatic syncing, investments, tax advice, reminders when the tool is closed, and syncing between devices (use Backup to move your budget).
Pro features
Bills: due dates (weekly to yearly, or twice a month), overdue first, mark paid, skip or snooze 3 days. Subscriptions are totalled a month (weekly × 52 ÷ 12) and a year.
Accounts and transfers: transfers move money between your accounts and are never counted as spending or income. Reconcile against a statement by ticking cleared entries.
Roll-over envelopes: for monthly or yearly budgets. Carries show in the Month view (monthly envelopes) and the Year view (yearly ones).
Plan: expected income minus every budget = "Left to assign"; aim for zero. Splits: one entry across up to 10 categories. Import: bank CSV files with rules and a duplicate check. Export: CSV, with spreadsheet formulas made harmless. Up to 15,000 entries.
